Simply put, the Board of Directors is set up to help the HOA run smoothly.
The Board consists of volunteer homeowners who undertake a wide variety of
tasks you may not be aware of; however, their work affects every resident of
the community.
By enforcing the rules, the Board wants to make sure that the rules set in
place are beneficial for the majority of the community. Community members are
welcome to raise concerns about the rules at open Board Meetings.
(For information on how to voice a concern with the Board, head over to our
blog on submitting issues to the board.)
Assessments are critical to the Association's stability; they pay for the
amenities, infrastructure, services and utilities enjoyed by all residents.
Assessments also contribute to reserve funds, which pay for major repairs and
replacements. Collecting assessments is how the Board ensures the Association
remains solvent.
Finally, the Board acts in the name of the Association by hiring managers,
attorneys, contractors and other professionals who help manage the Association.
While it's a big job, Board Members are happy to serve the residents.
Talk to your Board Members, attend an open Board Meeting, or run for a seat
on the Board during the next election. The more people that are looking out for
the community, the stronger the community will be.
